Thank You notes are often something that leadership does at the end of every project. It is important for you as a leadership student to know how to write one properly, so that the recipient takes notice that thought was put into it.
Teacher appreciation cards are always a big project during teacher appreciation week as well. We do our best to ensure that each teacher receives a quality card from a leadership student. So, again, it is important that you know how to make a high quality card for them as well.
For the cover: do your best to be creative, but also neat. It is more important to be neat and clean than to be overly colorful, etc. Especially if you are not the most skilled artistically, take your time, and do your best. Otherwise, you may have to take more time re-doing a card cover later.
On the inside: Start by addressing the recipient. If your card is horizontally folded, (hot-dog style) begin your address (Dear Ms. Miracle) on the bottom half of your card. Do not indent this first line. If your card is vertical, start this address on the left half of the inside of your card. Do not indent this first line either.
For the beginning of the next line, indent, and start writing. If you write multiple paragraphs, indent the beginning of each new paragraph. As you write, be sure to be thoughtful, and include information that is specific to the recipient. In the case of a thank you note after a project, list the specific things that they did that really helped you out. In the case of a teacher appreciation week note, give examples of what makes them a special addition to the school, and how they have personally impacted you if you can! The purpose of these especially is to make our teachers and staff feel a part of the Western Community. Using phrases that could be applied to almost anyone does not accomplish this purpose, so do your best to be specific and thoughtful.
At the end, sign your card from WAHS Leadership, and/or your name if appropriate. Indent your name/who the card is from under your concluding word (From, Sincerely, etc.)
