The students displayed here do not account for the entire Leadership program! Spread out over four class periods, there are many students enrolled in and involved with leadership who do not hold a titled position. Students in classes work on projects and pathways throughout the year, and are integral members of WAHS Leadership.

Structure

How

Teachers - oversee all of leadership, connect with WAHS staff and admin
Executive Council - oversee all of leadership from a student perspective, focus on student-staff/admin connection and large-scale planning
Class Officers - focus more on their own grade, especially the connection between their grade and Leadership, and on more specific planning
Leadership Students - general connection between the student body and leadership, including the bridge between students and admin, focus on specific event planning. This may be obvious, but being a part of leadership is something that you should take seriously. As a Leadership student, you are held to a higher standard, and looked up to as an example. Freshmen are not allowed to be in leadership class their first year, but there is always a Freshman Leadership Club that allows freshmen to connect with their class officers and the Leadership Program!

Executive Council members and Class Officers are elected by the student body. EC is typically upperclassmen, and there are COs in every grade. Learn more about the responsibilities of EC members and COs here. EC elections are held in the spring to elect for members for the following school year, because EC begins their work over the summer.

10-12th grade CO elections for the following year are held in the spring as well, after EC elections. If you run for EC and aren't elected, you are welcome to put your name on the CO ballot too. 9th grade CO elections are held after the summer, early in the school year, once the 9th graders arrive at Western.
